Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji (The Demon Prince of Momochi House)
Source: Manga.
Genres: Fantasy, romance, shoujo.
Studio: Drive.
(Known for Vlad Love, Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, To Your Eternity S2, Konosuba: Megumin spinoff and the upcoming Konosuba S3.)

Personal thought:
As per say this series does have the exact vibes of Fruit Basket's and I guess Kamisama Kiss (As some mention back in ep1 of the comment section discussions) or to me Fruit Basket with Yokai Apartments series.
Which what I'm going with is this's the similar type of story to them but being different.

First off we have all our characters Aoi Himari as strangers with a clear case of home invasion shenanigan's that starts off with a wrong impressions and we have the to shiki familiars Yukari + Ise which both rub me the wrong way at first impression.

Anyways the interactions of this did felt generic and lackluster to get attach to at first but the story plot of them got better and I got invested into this with the pace of the story plot got much better over time.

2nd As for the art and character design is all the guys are just beautiful and colorful but carbon copies of others I've seen before that's not to pleasing at all.

But the story got interesting and got better going through all the situations with the main 2 MC's Aoi and Himari (especially at the end of this) and even the support characters of the 2 shiki familiars.

The OP was nice but not impactful and not really memorable while the ED is very impressionable with drawn illustrational art and animation scrolling down to the next character with the song Aiyue from by Muto made a nice touch.

The VA cast did pretty well and no complaints at all.
The ending with Aoi finally admitting to Himari with his confession and the kiss in the fireworks performance was beautiful and a first on how it happen which I do give props for the studio animating that and the author thinking of it.

This is not everyone's cup of tea since some dropped this but this was pretty good and worth the watch so 7/10/

Damn, they went all out with how much a spectacle they made out that confession scene to be with all the fireworks, the connection between their names, how they've been connected through Himari's family and lastly, Aoi being honest about his own feelings. That was a pretty big deal and I am so glad we got a kiss!!! Such a great way to end the season with.

I am glad we got to learn about Himari's parents, it's sad that her mother didn't have any powers but still had to be the master of the house. Himari's father is an amazing husband for sticking by her in a house full of supernatural beings without even being able to see it himself. I'm so glad her parents are such kind people and they were always praying for Himari's happiness.

I understand why Aoi would feel guilty about taking her parents' protection but I'm glad Himari was just happy to learn about how she's been by her side this entire time through Aoi. I'm also glad he was saved by her parents with how they warmed his cold heart with their daily lives.

It's sad to see this end, I actually wasn't really fond of this in the beginning and ended up not watching it for a few weeks but I am so glad I decided to return to it, I've enjoyed watching their story and I do hope this one would get a second season. I want to learn more about Kasha's connection with Aoi, seeing if there's any leads to him leaving the house and more importantly, watch them become an official couple now that Aoi has confessed and they've kissed!

I'm such a sucker for firework kisses/confessions, that was such a cute ending T____T

I love that Aoi was finally able to see what he had been working endlessly all this time to protect, there's such a difference between knowing what your goal is supposed to be and actually seeing it with your own eyes. Especially for Aoi, who has been slowly losing his humanity for it

I wish firework yokai were real, I wanna ride a light dragon in the sky amidst the fireworks too???

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 month ago

I'd be concerned of the safety of it lol.

Utsuro • 1 month ago

It was a heartwarming sight to witness Aoi being able to see the town he protects and once called home.

muffins • 1 month ago

So I was right! Aoi's stepmom IS Himari's mother!

edit: but if her mother was consumed by evil, how could she...nvm I was wrong
Damn, Kasha's probably jealous seeing his crush kiss her

And I am sad, but we have an ending here as well. For this anime, all I can say in one word is Beauty. This anime was one of the most beautiful this season, in terms of images, the characters, the effects, the relationships, and that ending between Himari and Aoi! OMG, how precious this was! I will certainly miss it! There were few boring bits here and there, but this one is by far one of the most underestimated anime this season! I was so happy Aoi was able to tell Himari the last message left behind by her parents. His rejection to Himari makes sense now - he felt he took something precious from her, and that he didn't have the right to be with her bcs of that. But in the end, all ended superbly beautiful and them being together at the end made this even sweeter - not to mention, it adds to a second confession this week (after the 30-sai anime with Tsuge and Minato). Overall, the action was good, the characters super cool, the story interesting, and the colours and designs - MARVELOUS!!! I don't think this will get a second season, but if it does I would be glad!

Overall Score: 8.5/10! Sayonara! :')

I never read more relaxed manga and now watched anime. One of the most romantic scenes in anime universe. Congratulations to legendary Himari and Aoi... again 😊

Aaaa i love it!! :''')

Yoi Ya • 1 month ago

i like the symbolism of their names. himawari as sunflower and aoi(blue) as a cool distant color that also stands for sadness.

they even it with their names ;_; imagine glowing yellow green himawari and behind it clear blue sky *-* it's a good summer color contrast.

oh interesting in the demon slaying backflash his haori is darkredish, with purple brwn and beige...like blood, curses, and corpses

Yoi Ya • 1 month ago

okay.... this is me before the episode after the huggung out of the bush attack.

hi everyone. :) i have a feeling aoi loves himawari. we all see it! but...somehow he rejected her and seems to...ne not interested in dating but was heavily mentally down for at least a week becaue of that. MAYBE he is so socially not educated that he does not understand something like dating....that he already considers her...as his family, as his partner. he's just skipping the first steps. they are already living together and seeing each...okay she sees him naked. i mean...come on, he can't be like

"what you thought i love you, cherish you and want to protect you and be in a relationship with kissing seeing each other naked and hugging and stuff? sorry girl i impulively fooling around, you went with it, it's just platonic."

me after the episode... sigh *-* thanks for this...ending. : ] even with awesome fireworkdragons they can fly on!! it was too perfect to confess in this moment of pure joy._. i have no complains anymore.

This was such a nice sweet series<3 (:
I'm so curious though if you're a manga reader can you tell me if the manga was much different/had a lot more going on? I feel like the ending of this wrapped things up nicely but also it felt slightly rushed to me (but no complaints I'm so thrilled they managed to answer all the questions about aoi and himari's family in 2 eps)

KP • 1 week ago

I finally finished the anime and was about to comment but I will add to yours. There will definitely not be a 2nd season. I can confirm, as a manga reader who owns this series, they literally changed up the ending from the original in the manga. The anime doesn't do the manga enough justice. It does with more answers on the Momochi's House and the connection with the chosen Omamori's existence that's tied to the house.

This series could've easily been made in 24 episodes, it has enough content for it. However, they decided to change things up a bit by leaving out huge details and left it open-ended. Particularly, Kasha who's had such a big role was shifted to the side and they switched it to the teacher Takamura Nachi instead. There's also important characters that should've popped up as well since they played their roles in explaining the Momochi House's existence more.

If you truly want to know to how the real ending goes, I suggest reading it. It's not a long read either but hey, I'm not gonna force anyone to read. To each their own and I hope to have been useful in providing info.

EDIT: The real ending keeps true to everything revolves the "Momochi House".

fabulous max • 1 week ago

Thank you so much for your response - that's exactly what I've been wondering about the anime adaptation

Good to know about Kasha too - as an anime-only watcher I was surprised to see he didn't have more of a role since he seemed so important early on when they introduced him

I'll most likely give the manga a go one day(: thanks again for your explanation
